DENHAM CFI ROD BROWN NAMED AOPA INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR Our very own CFI has been awarded the great accolade of Flying Instyructor of the Year by the Aeroplane Owners and Pilot's Association (AOPA). The award was given as a result of Rod's special contribution to the training of student pilots for the PPL and NPPL, and to private pilots who acquire added qualifications. An AOPA spokesperson says: “Rod Brown is a flying instructor of many years experience employed by Cabair at Denham. He has a passion for flying which is passed on to his students and his calm manner in training engenders great confidence in his students. He has been along-standing supporter of AOPA, and is a recognised authority on Chipmunk aircraft." |
Rod learnt to fly on a Tiger Moth whilst in the RAF as an engine technician in 1959. Instructing since 1985, he has accumulated over 9000 hours. An Examiner on the DHC-1, he has occupied the position of CFI at the Denham School of Flying for over 10 years. The DHC-1 has been a favourite of Rod’s for over 50 years, including the historical and technical side, such that he has become a well known source of information to owners all over the world. You can meet Rod at Denham School of Flying's iminent Open Day - details of which are above this News item. Read AOPAs recognition of Rod and all the other Heroes in this PDF. |
